The Nigerian Nation was indeed shut down today Monday 9th January 2012 by a Nationwide Strike Action led by the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC and The Trade Union Congress TUC who were joined by various Civil Society groups in the action. Professor Atahiru Jega, INEC chairman, announced new dates for the General Elections in Nigeria. The National Assembly Elections cancelled last Saturday 2nd April and slated for Monday 4th April will now hold on Saturday 9th April.
